Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 September 2026

Maniac Games doesn't ask who you are. One of our games collects anonymous gameplay statistics, and only if you agree to it. This page explains exactly what that means.

This policy covers the Maniac Games website at maniac-games.com and the games published by Maniac Games: Cognizer, GORB and Picross Touch.

None of our games ask you to create an account or give us your name, email address or location. Your progress and settings are saved on your own device.

This website

The site you're reading is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers.

Analytics in Cognizer

Cognizer is built with the Unity game engine and uses Unity Gaming Services Analytics. We use it to see how the game is actually played: which puzzles people get stuck on, where they stop playing, whether an update made things better or worse. It's how a small studio finds out what's broken.

Cognizer asks you first, and collects nothing until you say yes. If you decline, no analytics data leaves the game, and you can change your mind later in the options menu.

If you do agree, the following is collected:

There is no advertising identifier involved. Cognizer shows no ads, contains no ad network, and collects no IDFA or Google Advertising ID. Nothing here tracks you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you. We could not identify you from it if we tried.

Unity Technologies processes this data on our behalf: under GDPR we are the data controller and Unity is our processor. Unity holds it for 13 months by default. Their policy for players is at unity.com.

Our other games

GORB and Picross Touch contain no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. They send nothing anywhere.

The app stores

Our games are distributed through Apple's App Store and Steam, and were previously on Google Play. Those companies handle downloads, purchases and, where a game uses them, achievements and leaderboards. When you use those features you're dealing with the platform under its own privacy policy, not ours.

Platforms give us anonymous, aggregated sales and download figures. These are counts and totals; they don't identify individual players.

In-app purchases

Where a game offers in-app purchases, the transaction is processed entirely by the platform. Maniac Games receives no card numbers, billing addresses or other payment information. We're told that a purchase happened, not who made it.

Children

Our games are not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you email us

If you write to [email protected], we'll have whatever you put in that email, including your address. We use it to answer you and nothing else. We don't add you to any mailing list and we don't pass it on.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see or delete personal data we hold about you. Email us and we'll action it with Unity on your behalf.

One honest limitation: this data isn't linked to your name or to any account, so if you write to us we may need your installation identifier to find the right records. We'll tell you where to find it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
